i never really found the calluse thing a problem, to be honest i dont even really have any serious calluses on any of my fingers.

maybe try playing with a lot lighter touch and letting your mp do the work, of course you will have to do a bit of EQ'ing after this as the tone that is coming from your fingers is gonna be a little different as your touch will have changed.
