The same, the priciple and mathematics are the same, so is the sound usually. Also, like Bruce said, there is no 3rd fret harmonic. There is a 2.7, a 3.2, and one at the 4th fret, but not right at the 3rd. Try playing it a little further down from the 3rd fret.
One thing I will say about the fanned frets, is the harmonics are closer to the fret markers than parallel frets in my experience, but not exactly. For example, on my E string, the 4th fret harmonic won't ring out if played directly over the fret, but if I move down just a hair, it comes through like my G string right over the 4th fret. Since the scale lengths are different, its still a little bit of trial and error to find the sweet spot. Also, where you pluck with your plucking hand can determine how well it rings as well, so play around a bit with that also.
