Question Neck goes down (guitar strap)

Sign in to disble this ad
Guitar Strap stuff,
seems that whenever I use my guitar strap the neck goes downwards... and I don't think it's supposed to do that,
I've tried adjusting the lengths several times, doesn't change the fact that the neck falls....
and the problem is, to keep it at a nice level I have to hold it but when I need to change the notes the neck falls causing me to fumble on the note.

Could it just be the guitar strap?
Because I admit it is a pretty crappy strap I bought on the spot.

Thanks for the help.

Nylon woven straps will slide really easily if your bass is prone to "neck dive". A good leather strap with suede on the back side (the side of the strap touching your shoulder) will help an awful lot.

A lot of people use a technique involving their left thumb going under the neck and their right forearm holding the body to their hip like a chicken wing, too - this helps a bit.

Thanks, you're probably right about the nylon strap thing because thats what I use. I'll work on getting a better one.
Thanks .
