Need a change of direction...

I'm needing something different. I'm from a heavy rock, stoner, metal background. I'm thinking about having a go at some classical stuff on bass.

Does anyone have any suggestions on pieces that are somewhat simple, yet pretty enough to impress my wife?

the Josquin des Peres J.S. Bach for Bass book is a good one. I believe it's a Mel Bay book

Man, you may try blues, jazz, latin, take this opportunity to really branch out there. Listen to the public radio if you have one, they play all sorts of different stuff.
