Thumbs up Spider?

How about the Spider exercise (I think that's what it's called) or variations there of?

You already doing that one?

Ya' know, 4 fingers across 4 frets, then going up and down the neck across all strings, alternating fingers\frets\strings, etc.....

Hard to describe in words....Google "Bass Spider Exercise".

An old trick, but will develop your ear-find a radio station that you don't normally listen to, and juse play along with unfamiliar tunes. Start by trying to find the chord movements of the tune rather than copy the bass lines-your ear will relate to your fingers and your instrument. You will learn a lot fast. Keep changing stations when the tunes become too familiar.

This is an old jazz player's trick, still works just fine.

Enjoy yourself.
