| I've found low action helps with tapping. Also, some advice I picked up from Victor Wooten on the BAss Extremes video, are you using your thumb on your right hand to hold onto the back of the neck, just like you would with your left hand? Victor said to treat it like a mirror image of your left hand, so make sure you use your thumb to support your right hand behind the neck. This might be difficult depending on what kind of bass you have, but I've found it helps get more strength in the tapping.
Try that with lots of practice. My tapping still isn't up to a great level either, but I've noted progress, especially due to this advice.
I hope I've explained it well, it's kind've hard to do without showing someone.
