Need help on a tricky open A string mute

I can do a sweep to the A string, but i don't really like doing it. I much prefer using my first and second fingers, which require me to pull away from the strings.

So, it's pretty tricky. I've been messing around with it but there doesn't seem to be a way. Maybe palm muting it, or pinky finger on the fretting hand or something... IDK. Just looking for a solid technique to work on.

Ya, i figured it out. I play with fingers so i'll just swap between anchored and floating thumb.

I would either play the open A with my index, than mute the open A with my ring finger while playing the A and the C with my middle.. Or play the open A with my thumb, mute it with the thumb while playing the A with my index and C with my middle.
