I play it by picking it up. putting the strap around my shoulder, using my left hand to press the strings down on the long portion of the bass and depending how funky I feel; my righ hand kind of goes nuts on the fatter end of the instrument.

How ironic! I play excatly like Vincent does! I'm guessing you, the OP, will play the same way also (or reversed if you're left handed).

What answer do you expect? Vincent answered your question perfectly. You learn to do what he said, then you learn *how* to do what he said.

There's your answer.

Well no offense, but you asked a very wide spread and vague question. Is it technique, style, reading music, Method. To say how do you play bass is like asking how do you perform brain surgery.

Lame subject line.
Lame question.

I think the answer was more than appropriate.

Are you really a newbie or is all the information in your profile a lie?

Owned newbie. So, so guys, let's not destroy the guys dreams..
How do i play, hm.. I guess something like this:
1. First i put my self in the mind of a 1969 - 1979 black funk-king.
2. I try not to think about the tone im after or how to accomplish it.
3. I just do it.
It's that simple.
