new technique to learn, which one?

I've decided to start working on one new technique and only one for now. I rather just focus on one and do better at that one than do all and take a longer time. I'll learn the other techniques later though. Vote on which one i should learn first. Also please give a reason why you chose it.

slap is cool but its a bit over rated
learning tapping would open more gateways on the techniques you already use

Sweeping is awesome, you get this kinda classical piano vibe going on if you're good enough

Hum, that movement that looks like picking, are you just using your middle finger like a pick?

Or is it something else?

No it's a pick that I'm holding between my fingers.

Hmm, I guess I'll pass on that one then, never was a fan of picks. Great to know of this sweet little technique though, maybe at some point I'll decide to get to it. Gives interresting options, slap+pop+pick.

Slapping is used more in your regular top 40 band . If you got the chops give sweeping or tapping a try those are advanced techniques that are rarely used in Pop or Rock music (unless you do solos)

How often do you hear slap in top 40 bands besides RHCP?

Ah! I forgot that you utilize that!
EDIT: CONKLIN haha. I laughed.

I think every bass player should be able to slap. maybe not intense Victor Wooten or Marcus Miller style, but a nice Root-Octave-b7 groove.

I'm practice the Matt Garrison 4-finger technique. There's a sticky at the top of the forum about it by Bryan R. Tyler. It's helped a lot.

Here's an example as recorded by Mike Flynn, who is also a TBer.

Enjoy

Ok its not used that often but at least it is used more than tapping or sweep picking . I rarerly slap but here in latin america rock bands have a lot of basslines with slap ( los fabulosos cadillacs , molotov etc )

Enjoy
The intro says "thumb, index, middle, pinky" but he doesn't use his pinky once.
