I've been at this less than a month. I've been playing fingerstyle, but my previous experience with banjo has my hand in a curl, rather than the long finger pure bass style.
What I'm hearing is on a quick pattern that moves from say E string to A string when I release the E string fret, I get a bit of a pull off on roundwound, but more than that I get an open E string ring that I don't want.
There's a lot of energy applied on the initial strike of the fretted e string and that continues once the fret is released.
I assume there's some kind of damping method I don't know about and need to learn (side of hand?) OR is the gain just turned up too high on my bass and I need to adjust the gain on the passive pickups vs. the volume of the amp? or ??? My bass has a lot of sustain. |
