Non Slappers?

The bass guitar always sounded very good to me before slapping became so popular. I personally don't care much for it because I think it sounds out of place with the beauty of the groove but that's just me. I know there are many accomplished bassists who don't slap at all so why is there a bias against those who don't slap? It's almost like if you don't slap you can't play.

Didn't know there was a bias against those who don't.
Been thumping bass for 4 decades and I've never slapped...it just doesn't fit into my game.

Was not aware of a bias against 'non slappers'! It's typically the opposite! I don't see this thread accomplishing anything but stirring up the masses!
