Question Not enough room...

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I know my constant question answering is probably getting really annoying, and I'll try and make this my last.

Basically, I'm working on using three fingers on my right hand, which is going fairly well. I'm up to quarter notes at 230 bpm after two days, which is good for me. Anyway, I'm finding it easier on the low E, but on for example, the D string, it doesn't feel like I have enough room, because of the G string above it. I don't know if this is common and I'll just adapt, or if it's a flaw on my part?

Thanks alot, and sorry for so many questions!

Sounds to me like it may just be someting you'll get used to. I don't use three fingers, just two, most of the time, so I'm not sure if I've ever noticed.

Slow down. Cut the metronome speed in half & play for the fun of it. You seem to be in a hurry. Experiment with different finger rests for the D & G strings. Those are your hands & you are the only 1 who can find the good ways to put them to work.

I assume you are using Index, Ring, Middle? Have you worked on Thumb, Index, Ring, yet? Do you work the sequence of fingers in just 1 direction? or do you reverse the order, too?

Classical guitarists spend years working their right hand with these exercises. You may be mistaken thinking 230 after 2 days is so good. The goal may be to play without thinking, without looking. Perhaps you won't get there before the end of next month?
