Not getting a good metal tone

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all! I've been trying to play some songs from bands like August Burns Red, and I've noticed that during "shredding" i get really metallic sounds instead of nice bassy notes that i get during slow parts.

Any ways i can stop this? and just general shredding tips

All the best.

P.s. i use a pick

Raise the action on your bass, or develop a lighter touch on the strings. You can also try reducing the amount of treble on your EQ.

just make sure you have the best bass for metal and you should be all set.

Try moving your picking hand closer to the neck.

Usually people search the forum before posting a thread about something that was previously stated. It should not be that hard to know there was a post JUST like this, since you posted it earlier.
