Any excersizes help? I dont know what carpel tunnel is all about, but i;m 47, arthritis here and there, but I;ve never had a problem. I box and lift weights though. My hands/ wrist feel best when I'm doing cardio stuff and you can feel the blood course through them. Is that helping the seemign inevitable onslaught of carpel?

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but I'm self taught also and I used to do the same thing. It took me a year or two to realize that what I was doing was ' wrong'. One thing I've learned to correct this habit, I think I read it in a bassbook or on here I'm not quite sure but what you do is ( sitting or standing) assume your finger picking position. Look at your wrist and notice the curve. Then bring your arm down so that your entire arm is straight and then slowly bring it up into a plucking position on the G string. Notice how the curve in your wrist is gone and then move on to moving it up and down the strings.

Hopefully this helps
