I am getting on in years and I am starting to feel in my left hand what I believe is the beginning of carpel tunnel. My index and middle finger go numb after a half an hour. Any tips on exercises to help?

I know Norm Stockton has advice/exercises for this (though he doesn't appear to be very old) but I don't know where you can easily reference it--since it's my mind that is failing; fingers aren't too bad yet.

Stop playing if it hurts, and see a doctor. Then worry about your technique.

I think you would probably get more help by posting in the technique forum (since anyone could advise about preventing carpal tunnel, not just Berklee). There's also a lot of stuff stickied there about carpal tunnel, tendonitis etc. I would say definitely stop playing for a few days at least, and either research the problem and methods of correcting/preventing further damage, or see a doctor if you can. :)
