Question Online Practice Aids

Sign in to disble this ad
Here's what I'm looking for-

An online program where I can enter a chord progression, and the program will loop that progression over and over. I think it would be a great tool for learning how to walk, solo and invent interesting lines. Anyone know of a site like this?

I recommend you download a nice little program called Powertab. With this free program you can create midi files by inputing numbers in tab format ... very user friendly, and free too. There are actually tons of songs that have been tabbed on powertab available on the internet, and these are generally much more accurate than normal tabs (though mistakes, and terrible transcriptions are common).

It's really great not only for improvising something over something else, but for hearing how two (or more) parts you have come up with actually sound together.

I LOVE the quality of Midi file instruments, by the way.

I don't know about a site but there's Band-in-a-Box, which is the standard software for that.

Get a looper pedal. Lay down some chords on bass or ??? and practice away. Having to play by creating your own tracks is an education in itself. Can't blame the drummer if you time sucks.

Even simpler, here is an amazing program that you get drums, chords, a bassline (which you can remove), adjusting of the the tempo and different styles.

http://www.activebass.com/

Click on track builder...also, if you want to save your stuff you just have to register with them. It's free anyways.
