Are the the original Funk fingers finished?

im in the process of making my own, and i am wondering if anyone knows if the originals are finished and by what kind.

Dude, I've been working on mine for near thirty years, and they'll never be "finished".

The originals were sealed with a very light satin finish sealant, probably the same stuff drumsicks are finished with. Also, the last 0.75" of the playing ends had a thin layer of rubber.
