Pain in muscle under thumb (excuse my ignorance :) )

Sign in to disble this ad
As the name suggests, i play a lot of ska-punk.

I tend to play a lot of fast walking bass lines, and have played in bands for about 4 years. Recently, the muscle in my pick holding hand (right) has gone complelty dead when playing, which means i cant hold the pick.

I do practice a fair bit, but its only recently started to happen, and as such i tend to hold onto the pick harder - which caused the effect to come about quicker.

Any one else had this - if so you have any techniques to stop this?

The muscle im talking about, is the one under the thumb which allows you to grip.

Compare your technique with the list Jimmy made here:

Why I keep hammering the Carol Kaye pick method
