Well, I very rarely play with a pick now b/c I'm quicker with fingerstyle than with a plectrum, but when I do I'll break out the 1.5mm and 2.0mm ones.
I have also been known to use a coin from time to time, but I get worried about what kind of damange its doing to my strings. |

I used to use blue teardrops, but I caught a purple triangle at a Machinehead gig and haven't gone back. If you haven't tried a triangle pick, you owe it to yourself to do so. I also score them with a razor, for extra grip(ala Kerry King, Dimebag and Adam Duce). |

| | | | Okay, you might all have your picks, and they might work for you; however, Clayton picks (sold by Musicians Friend) are the best.
By all means, get the thickest kind they have, and get the ones that have a picture of the Earth on them. They are the coolest.
Eventually, the Earth will wear away (the picture covers the entire pick), leaving you with nothing but a white pick.
It must feel great to finally accomplish wearing the Earth off the pick; I have been using the same pick for at least two months now (quite an accomplishment in itself, considering how quickly I usually lose picks). Only about 1/3 of the Earth is left, and what is left is quite faded in color.
Also, quite a bit of bass god magic has been imbedded into this pick. Once I through it at my drummer, and he gave it back, but I wasn't going to use it (I was pissed at him), so I got a new one out. It didn't feel right.
The moral here: buy Clayton Earth picks, and wear the Earth off the pick. Your playing will definitely be the better for it.
