Picks, Picking Techniques and Pick Players

I haven't seen too much discussion on here about picks, picking techniques and killer players who play with a pick (or both fingers and picks).
[If there are other threads, could someone please link them here.]

I just had these custom made, finally Dunlop figured out that combining the shape of the Jazz III's and their Tortex picks was a good idea...

I'm brand new to bass ..... I'd like to hear about all this too. I'm a guitar player so I'm comfortable playing with a pick and it sounds good, I think.

The pick I've come to use in the last few years for guitar is the DAVA control tip .... The material is somewhat soft and becomes rounded pretty quickly (few weeks of playing). When they get too rounded for guitar, they feel good for bass.
