In this lesson, I cover the “Up-down” method of pick playing. I also cover tonal opportunities when playing in different places, as well as discussions on pick thickness and uses, as well as other...

After this, I move onto an exercise. There will be more and more of these.

The exericise here is useful for building up strength and stamina.

Here is the link.

Sincerely hope it helps someone.

Awesome. Considering learning pick playing as all my favorite bass players seem to play with a pick. I've been keeping up with your blog. Nice work, man!!

Too many bass players are fingerstyle snobs. They look down their nose at playing with a pick. I find that there are certain songs that just need to be played with a pick.

Unfortunatly Ric, it's not only fingerstyle snobs in this world...

Some people hate slap and pop, some hate tapping, some hate solos, some hate picks, some just hate.

My philosophy is to never shut myself off to anything. Everything we use is just a tool. To shut myself off to something is choke my potential.

Hope you see what i'm saying.
