Playing hard

I'm in a pretty agressive band and i play bass. I always seem to hit the strings too hard resulting in a clicking or snapping sound. Any suggestions on how i could still play hard but get rid of that sound. Maybe a cetain type of string or something, i use ernieball hybrids, thanks in advance for your help

I recently complained of that to my teacher. He suggested I adjust the bass so that the strings are higher off the neck. I believe that is something to do with the "action"?

Relax, and let your amp get the sounds. Raise your low mids and play near the bridge.

Raise the action, and play closer to the bridge. If that doesn't quite do it for you, you'll want to pick up a set of heavier-gauge strings--I've got some realloy heavy strings on my bass, I can play as hard as I want with no clicking. Plus they sound better IMO
