Hey guys, I've been looking all over the net for the past few days trying to find out what the names of these techniques are but had no luck so far.

I'm sure they're easy to name for any bass player..

1. here's the sound, its like a growl or roar (car engine starting) but what is the real name of the technique (e.g. slap etc..)
http://ivcdn.net/growl.mp3

2. here's the next sound, its somewhat like a boom-ish sound..
http://ivcdn.net/boom1.mp3, http://ivcdn.net/boom2.mp3

Thanks in advance

They're quick slides.

The first one is from low to high to low.

The second one is from high to low.

They might have a little fuzz on them, but it sounds more like they are just EQed to so that highs are most prominant, mids cooped out, and lows rolled back a tad by one equalizer then slightly pulled back on another. Or compressed.

We have a separate sub-forum for technique questions, by the way.

When I was taking lessons that was actually a subset of learning to play fret-less. There IS some written material on it and many teachers who have a background in upright Bass will address this in teaching electric fret-less.
