Plectrum convert

I have recently converted to using mainly a pick in the band, being the singer as well as bass I find it easier to stay on time and remember my parts than when using finger picking style, maybe this is because I am not having to concentrate on what finger plucks what string etc and allows me to focus on singing more .
It certainly allows the bass to cut through the sound a lot better and has allowed the use of the bass EQ more than fingers, this is good because my GKMB210 does have rather a lot of bass EQ which has to be kept right down to almost zero when finger picking .
I still use finger picking when the guitarist sings, its nice to keep both styles going and some songs are natural finger pickers rather than plectrum .
I would advise anyone struggling to sing and play bass at the same time to try a plectrum

this is what I have found as well. when I 1st picked up bass I used a pick b/c I'm a guitard-convert, but as I played more & more bass I totally dropped it for fingerstyle.

now that I'm in a band where I am doing 80+% of the singing, I have to admit its easier with a pick. I'm using a pick almost 50% of the time again when I play with those guys. I still do 90% fingerstyle when I play with the praise band at church (don't need to sing there, too many singers already)

fun to play around with different methods!

I have the same experience. Singing is much easier with a pick. Yet, I still try to let the song dictate which method to use. I prefer finger style, but some songs just sound better with a pick. If a song sounds better with fingers, then that means more time in the wood shed for me. I will break that rule if I have to sing a song I normally don't sing, in a pinch.
