Classical Guitar Technique on Bass

Check out Dominique Di Piazza. He has incorporated this style of play into bass guitar some years ago. Check these out, for example (there are many more):

Great stuff. Obviously, I have to amend my original reply of "no" to say I don't know what I'm talking about (except that Di Piazzi doesn't stab, either).

I saw Ravi Shankar a few weeks ago with his daughter Anoushka and have since been contemplating how to incorporate certain aspects of sitar style (as opposed to technique) into both bass and guitar. It's a great thing to expand horizons by examining how other players approach their instruments. No doubt classical and flamenco guitar are closer to bass than sitar.

Style is not the same as technique, though. I liked Christopher's breakdown of applicable/inapplicable technique.

Dywane Mononeon Thomas is one of the best bass guitarists around and in some of his videos he very successfully incorporates sitar expression and microtonality into his playing.

Thanks for pointing that out, man! Dominique Di Piazza doesn't enjoy the recognition he deserves (although he's not unknown, of course)! Great, great bass player!
