From plucking to picking during song

i was watching this video and at the 6:00 mark he goes from plucking to picking. the pick was somehow in his hand while he was plucking. any tips on how that is done?

Didn't watch the video but you can pinch it between your pinky and ring finger web pretty easily...kind of like a magician.

Otherwise, I just slide mine under the edge of the pickgaurd during fingerstyle stuff.

To me it looked like the pick was in between the bridge saddles or something, from the way he makes a kind-of "grabbing" motion.

i used to have a better video showing the same thing and it was clearly in his hand somehow.
