Popping the A string?

Sign in to disble this ad
I was just wondering if it is considered "wrong" to pop notes on the A string, or I guess any strings that aren't the littler guys. I was listening to some Rage a few days back. (Take the Power Back). They are in Drop D tuning, and Tim slaps the D, and does what sounds like pop from C-D (frets 3-5) on the A, then pops F (fret 3 on the D) . I'm pretty sure this is a pop, some people have assured me that's what he does. I was just wondering if this is considered "wrong" technique and maybe he's really slapping the A. Hard to tell but sounds like popping...even seems to sound a bit more defined popping those notes.

When I play that song I pop that A string. Heck, pop the E string if you want too. There's no guidelines on what you can pop or slap, so go for it.
