Post your go-to lines!

I believe most people have a few go-to lines that they play a lot. Lines or fills that they can always rely on to work for them. I'll start.

I play root-fifth-octave A LOT because you don't have to think about it as the root and fifth are in most standard chords.

In minor, I like to add the seventh and third. Simply because they always sound cool!

The diminished fifth is one of my tasty notes to, well, add some taste For example in A minor I would play a short Eb followed by the rest of the line. In C major I would also use the Eb.

I think these are pretty basic and are used a lot. Post yours and let's see what you do!

I find myself using a lot of minor pentatonic lines. For example, if I'm leading into an A chord, I'll quickly play D-E-G (4-5-b7) leading into the A.

When in doubt it's usually roots, b3s, and b7s for me. Of course 5ths and octaves are go-to as well, but they are for everyone.

Parallel Pentatonic minor = what I play when I get lost and can't read down the changes.

It's easy to feel your way around with that and then jump in on a hot point in the piece without the audience going down or the band losing the groove.
