Question Practice time before a gig?

How long do you practice before going to the gig?

I tend to go through most of the songs we play one time before going to a gig. I dont meet up with the band at all until I get to the gig usually. I was just curious to see how others get prepared the day of a show.

Practice on my own? About an hour... rehearsal with the band? 2+ hours.

I make sure I have 5—10 minutes of warm up before hitting stage, but rarely practice before. I do put in a good 2—3 hours everyday I don't have a gig though.

When I was playing.

Before going to the bar - none

Once there - just enough to make sure all is working and clear the sound check

None. If I am not ready by gig day, another hour or so is not going to make much difference.

And the bands always meet at the gig, so no pre-gig band rehearsal.

You really need to be more specific about what it is you're trying to ask.

If you're asking how much do I practice individually on the day of a gig: none, unless I am not comfortable with a new song. Then I'll play that song - or the difficult passage of the song - a few times.

If you're asking how much my band practices on the day of a gig: none.

If you're asking how much do I practice individually the week before a gig: a few hours. I try to practice individually an hour per day, but it ends up being more like 4 or 5 hours per week total.

If you're asking how much does my band practice the week before a gig: one rehearsal, 3 to 4 hours.
