Problem with right hand thumb tension that I'm not sure how to solve

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

I've never encountered this issue before, but unfortunately I am now. My right hand thumb that I place on the pick-up and move up to mute strings as needed now faces tension after playing even for a small amount of time. It never used to happen before, so I'm afraid this could be some injury (I hope not) I really have no idea what it could be. Has anybody faced this problem before/is there a solution?

Thanks for the time

Expand on what you mean by tension,as in is the whole thumb sore, or is it the base, is it the pad area, is it the tip etc.
what is the main difference you are now feeling that has made yo aware of it. Any new changes to you playing. age how long playing etc. Plus a picture of your hands in action to show how you hold them is always a plus.

Is the bass neck heavy maybe, I had a mockingbird that was so neck heavy, that I would have to lean on the body to keep it in the position I liked. I eventually got rid of it
