Wink PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - SUFFERERS OF "SLAPATITIS E"

Sign in to disble this ad
Do you or do you know someone who suffers from the dreaded "Slapatitis E"???
For too long many bass players have suffered this terrible affliction in silence - Unable to pick up a bass with out busting into a porno inspired groove or the latest Primus jam or God forbid, the opening music from Seinfield.....
I am here to say that it is ok to talk about this debilitating dis-order, maybe if we can all talk about it we can move forward, together as bass brothers united....
No longer will we be the cause of rolling eyes from bandmates, audiences and sound guys....
No longer will we be looked down apon like second class citizens, likend to criminals, the mentally insane or drummers.....
I am here to say that I too bear the cross of the Slapatitis.... beating away at my bass for hours like a 14yo on a Victoria's Secret catalogue.... Hammering on and popping relentlessly, wasting time whilst I should be learning & practising my band's songs.....
I am here today to say that we as Bass Brothers we have a duty to share our stories.... relate... and move on....
So please, put the shame behind you... and tell us about your experiences with Slapatitus E......

Slapatitus gives me a headache.
There are other funk lines or scales to master. Try G7 scale. How about C7? B7 lines at the 7th fret.

i don't slap unless you pay me. it's far harder to play clean finger-funk than slap, IME. if a song calls for it, i learn the part and practice until it's clean. in the meantime i practice finger proficiency.

(good luck with your affliction)

My name is John and I'm a Slapper.

It's been 30 days since I've had to Slap. I knew I had a problem when I started using my thumb on even the D & G strings about a year ago but I thought I could control it. I tried a lot of things. I only Slapped in the evening, I Slapped when I was alone, I tried Slapping softly. - But I knew I had a problem. I went back to old school and stayed there but it only lasted for a few days. I even used a pick.

Today I don't have to Slap. But I know I'm only one rif away from Slapping with everything I play. So today I take it one line at a time. I know I'm responsible for my thumb and have learned to take responsibility for the octaves I play and it's impact on those around me.

Amongst other stimulating "things" here in Amsterdam Slapatitus E is widely available.

Owning and using is legal, but only at home. It is illegal to sell or to take it outside.

I Slapatitus E at home every single day, I just don't take it out on the streets, so I have no issue..

You funny sarcasticist. Slap loud and slap proud. Annoy others with our busy thumb and fingers. I play all styles and slapping in E is a joy. Plenty of time for playing the notes in a song or piece but having fun on bass is important to me. I wish I was my bass so I could be slapped by me. Slap haters just cant... Slap every technique in bass is valid unless you can't do it. Those who can't just hate.
