A question on a common lick in slap bass clips

if you click on the rosewood/alder slap groove clip, at 0:02 and 0:09, there is a lick, really fast ghost notes it seems, i hear it alot in MM, and i was wondering how do you do that? there has to be a better way than just pop or slap really quickly

Probably it's left hand slapping. I think the guy is popping the note, smacking the strings with his fretting fingers, then doing a muted slap with his plucking hand.

Sounds pretty clearly like a double thump followed by a pop- you get very quick percussive attacks like that when double thumping.

There are a few techniques used in there, double thumping, and also slapping the fretboard with fretting hand + a thumb and a pluck which gives the quick triplet.

That one on 0:02 could be just two muted pops, a muted slap, and then an unmuted pop. The two muted pops are on different strings, accomplished by wrist rotation.

Like this:

Code:
G|---x---5-----------
D|-x-----------------
A|-------------------
E|-----x-------------
So: pop (muted), pop (muted), slap (muted), pop

EDIT: After watching the videos of the guy playing, I see he's using double thumb rather than the technique I discuss in this post.
