I was at the Spector web site and saw a Quicktime movie of Quintin Berry playing. I've never heard of this guy but he has the most unique tap/slap style I have ever seen. Well as far as the technique, I'd say it's mainly for "Wow!" factor though it could just be personal preference/comfort. I've seen those clips though and, regardless of how he holds/plays the bass, he is most definitely d@mn good.
