recent elbow pains

hello talkbass, I have been playing bass for about a year now and as of last week i started getting pains in my elbow. it's not very sharp, i can ignore it and keep playing but i know this really isn't a good sign. any tips for suggestions would be great.

How high/low do you wear your bass, and how is it positioned?

DO NOT IGNORE THIS PAIN! (Sorry for shouting). See this thread:

No options left - It's surgery for my tendinitis

Take corrective steps to be certain that you are keeping your wrists straight. Proper technique keeps tension off your elbows. Begin ice massage and stretching immediately. If you are not a working musician, or even if you are, stop playing until you get this pain under control.

I also have pain in my elbow, but after watching Carol Kaye's video I switched to a pick and now the pain is going away.
