a little off topic but: what were some of your specific symptoms? I am not trying to bust chops. Sometimes I get the odd intermittant pains in my fretting hand. I think it's just muscle/tendon developing.

Sounds terrible.

I would be very descriptive in your symptoms so that Talkbassers can provide more meaningful advice.

Personally, my right hand (plucking hand) has been battered by long-hours on the computer and bass playing. I lost a lot of hand-strength and had various types of pain and discomfort from my wrist to above my elbow. I did various exercises and they did help manage pain and lessen the severity of discomfort. But, what helped the most was the NDS Powerball. Sounds like an informercial, I know. 3 days with the power ball and there was a huge improvement. 2 weeks and I was almost back to "normal".

But, this was for me. I'm not saying it's the cure all for everyone.

I'm in Toronto. If you want to come check the NSD Powerball out, PM me and we'll figure something out.

You say recovering, did you have a release surgery or are you just trying to deal with it? I had a release on my left hand in 1990 and it took about six months of work to return to the level of strength I had before surgery.
I am a mechanic so that helped that I work with my hands everyday. I highly recommend having surgery to relieve the problem if you didn't already. Simple strength exercises like sqeezing a tennis ball and wrist curls with light weights helps rebuild the muscles. Good luck.
