Recovery Time

Starting next Thursday I will be in Africa for 2 and 1/2 weeks to aid in building a School. I am excited for the opportunity, but I am also worried about the amount of time I will be away from my basses. Who else has spent long periods of time away from their instruments, and how long does it take before one can start gigging again?

Hard to say. I had once been away from music for months due to an illness and then nailed an audition my first time back. Another time I tried to play and just plain sucked.
