Remembering what you did-(hopping back on the train…)

It's coming up on the time of year when I'll be playing a lot for a few months, then dropping off after the summer again (by way of explanation, my almost exclusively a cappella group produces a series of pop/rock shows over the late spring and summer with full band (lots of us play instruments, and I'm usually the bass player), then goes back to our regularly scheduled vocal programs the rest of the year).

Went back to listen to some of our previous summers' work, and I'm kind of astounded with some of the basslines and arrangements I've created, but can't for the life of me remember how I did some of it! It has been a really busy year touring, and I'm pretty burned out at the moment, so I think that's part of it, but does anyone have advice for grabbing that natural élan you might have had last summer?
