So I played fingers and then pick the same exact song, in this case some Social Distortion.

When I asked my buddies which they liked better?

The answer: fingers.

Apparently I got more punch out of my fingers.

I have some success (always relative) with a multi-band compressor.
Compress all except leave 2k-5k less compressed.

With a normal compressor it's a lot harder to get , you can try this;
relatively low threshold , Long attack (50-60ms) , and a quick release.

the way i see it, if u can play both fingers and pick, it just makes you a better player in general
