Question RH Fingers Stumbling?

Sign in to disble this ad
First off this isn't exactly my first post... I made a new accn because I grew sick of my old name.

My question is.. When I play fast licks across strings typically going up in pitch (E-G) I'll hear my fingernails hit the string as they move up into the prepluck position, Creating annoying/inconsistent clicks which essentially gives me more to mute.

Incase you still don't get what I'm saying.. example.. Say I'm doing one note on the E with my middle finger and then with my pointer before moving to do the same on the A string. But after my pointer plucks the E and begins to move towards the A, it'll tip the E string again as it passes.

I think I know why this happens to me.
I used to play three fingers and so the muscle that lifts my finger outward is weaker than it would've been had I stayed with only playing with two.

I guess what I'm wondering is if this is just something I'll get over because my muscles are weak or if this will be a big problem as its habituous?

Then again I suppose it's entirely up to me and how much I work on resolving this problem.

well then... maybe the question to you all lies in if there are any specific finger excercises out there that will help me out?

Make sure your fingertips are moving in a circular pattern perpendicular to the body of the bass, making contact with string at the 'bottom' of the circle and going over it on the way up.

Well normally that is the case.

But like I refered to, it's only during real fast licks that this problem occurs.
