and also, when i sometimes normally slap, my thumb kinda turns downward also...its almost like a flea kinda slap or something

i think it happened because when i first started out, i used to curve my thumb and slap witht eh tp of my thumb...weird i know, but anyways, can anyone answer my previous question?

thanks

While you can still get off a good slap with your thumb pointing down, it's really going to hurt your popping more. When your thumb's pointed up, the pop is just an extension of your thumb coming off the string. When your thumb keeps pointing down, it's usually a sign that your wearing your bass too low.

You'll notice that guys who slap that way either

a) don't pop a whole lot, or quickly,
or
b) turn their bass so the neck is almost vertical when their playing a part like that.

Hope this helps,
Jeff
