right hand middle knuckle in pain, left hand straining

well i always have problems with my left or right hand tightening up so tonight i did some bass exercises at 100 BPM ( quarter notes so it was slow ) and payed attention to my technique and made sure i was careful and stayed comfortable the entire time.

as always with my left hand pinky, almost when ever i used and tried to keep it slow and on time i would get a strain all up my shoulder, not matter what position i was playing in, or if i was standing or sitting, and no matter where my thumb was located ( I tried many areas on the neck ). I only did eighth notes and sixteenth notes with my right hand for about 5 of the 30 or 40 minutes and then i went back down to some slow quarter notes for 10 more minutes before stopping. right when i stopped my left shoulder began to feel strained and i began feeling a throbbing pain in my middle finger knuckle of my right hand ( the knuckle that connects it to the hand, the part you would hit with if you were boxing ).

i tried many positions with b oth hands without putting much pressure, just trying to find a comfortable position for everything, and now this happens. from my explanation can you figure out what I am doing wrong?
