Right-handed player playing reverse (left-handed)?!

Sign in to disble this ad
For a very particular reason, I want to learn to play bass like a lefty... and I'm righthanded...
Sure it sounds odd, but I guess there are lefthanded people who learned to play righthanded basses with their opposite hand... (they often write with their right hand, so...)
One of my basses is now restrung upsidedown, and I had a few tryouts with it... damn, is my left hand that bad?>!?!

So, if there is someone out there who did this, or knew/know someone who did/do this, or knows anything about this... please, let me know that I'm not alone and share some expirience with me... and PLEASE, tell me that it's not that hard as it seems... or am I losing my time?!

I'm at a loss, do you mean you want to play a lefty bass, or play righthanded with the strings inverted for some god only knows reason and you have only been playing righthanded so far?

It is the same as me trying to play righty, I can do it, but why relearn to use your opposite hands if you don't have to?

There's a ton of threads on "rightys playing lefty", and "leftys playing righty", and even a couple on "inverted players" if that is what your seeking....

I am lefty and play righty basses inverted, as well as lefty normal. In my youtube vids I have me playing lefty inverted, lefty normal, and righty. ( but my main thing is inverted )

please explain further....

Like...just for kicks?

Go for it if you want the challenge. Don't expect it to be an easy walk. Imagine what it was like back when you first started to play. Now make it somewhat more difficult as you are using opposite hands.

Now combine that with frustration in your mind as you already know that you can EASILY play what you are playing right handed...

Like I said, if you want the challenge, go for it!

I'm a lefty thats plays righty. I didn't do it for a challenge, I did it because it feels natural to me.

Do you normally play righty just to try to play lefty? A la the guitarist Michael Angelo?

I'm not sure why'd you want to play as a lefty if you're right handed. My cousin plays lefty and has complained in the past about the availability of basses when he's been looking to upgrade. I guess I understand wanted to do it just to see if you can, but it would really be nothing more than a novelty to me.
