I play using fingerstyle by the way and I know that when a note on a higher string is plucked it follows through and rests on the lower string, thus muting it. However, when going from the lower string to the higher, the lower will ring with the higher string(ie. going from C on A string to G on E string, C rings with G and sound like crap) Hope my problem is more clear now, please help. |
the note on the higher string should be killed by releasing your pressure on it.
in other words...when you're barring like that, you need to rock your finger back and forth in conjunction with what you're playing.
to "cheat" (not really, just another technique), is to simply fret the G with your index, and the C with your middle, and pedal the notes back and forth that way.
you really should learn that barring technique, however...it leaves the rest if your fingers free to do other things.
