The Safest Slap Position

By safest I mean minimal risk of carpal tunnel, tendonitis, and all that jazz. I've read that the right arm/right angle method is bad, and one should play with his arm paralell to the board, and some say the Flea style is what they use, but I just want to know from a medical standpoint, which technique involves the least risk of those conditions that so haunt we musicians.
