Scale fingerings

Sign in to disble this ad
So I've been playing bass for a year and I'm going to a new teacher and I'm fixing some technique and learning things I should know all ready..

Anyway over Christmas break he wants me to work on two octaves for all three major scale patterns. But I cant remember the fingers he wanted me to use. I'm playing them all different ways, and I don't know which one is proper. I do know some of you will say if its the notes dont worry about it, but I really wanna learn the proper way first just for better development as a player.

Any help? Thanks guys. I think I'll be sticking around as I try and develop into a professional bass player

I think playing them all different ways is the proper way. Try playing them on one string, or two, or across the neck.

My .02 is learning where all the notes lay on your fingerboard is key so you are always in a position to move to the next chord easily.

I do agree its important to be comfortable everywhere.. but I want to know the 'proper' positions and fingerings for 2 octaves with 1st, 2nd, and 4th positions.
