it`s just straight forward double thumping, playing exactly what the guitar does. so it`s hardly considered a bass line, I`m afraid.

Really? It sounds like theres a lot more going on than that, just to make sure we're on the same page, I'm talking about the riff that goes until 0:20ish

Well yeah, but sometimes it is pretty fun/good for the song to add a neat little melody thing in the back ground

I saw Blood Red Throne live last night in Manchester and i paid close attention to Erlends bass playing - from what I could make out Erlend was doing a double thump mixed with some Les Claypool style chord playing during some parts during the set...from what I could make out (correct me if I'm wrong man!) when the guitars played open triplets, he would slap the open and strum down and then up again on a double stop using the octave.

uhm,if you`re reffering to triple thumping, then yeah , i do that on the opening part on Mephitication. can` t really remember if we played that one in manchester, though.

This is an exercise I made that ended up becoming a bass intro for one of my bands songs.

It's played at 180 bpm

G -----------------------------------------
D ------------------------------------------
A -----------------------------------------
E -4--------8-7-5----------1-------------
A ---8-7-5--------8--0-1-4---4-3-1-0---

(note the dropped tuning) You could technically play this in drop d, just wouldn't sound as heavy.
