Sheehan technique question

Sign in to disble this ad
How does Sheehan get a high ending note to do that feedback squeal like a guitarist without turning around and facing his bass into the cabinet? He does it wonderfully and to nice effect.

I don't know if this is what he does all the time for that, but it sounds like high gain + artificial harmonic + bending the neck.
If you don't know how to produce an artificial harmonic-
-Basically what you are doing is making a new twelfth fret(or any other stroing harmonic point), you fret a note, for example, 'c' , on the 'a' string which is fret 3, so what you do is find the 15th fret(3+12=15) and while fretting the 'c', play a harmonic using the 15th fret the same way you would use the 12th fret in open strings

hmmm--I'll try that but I guess while holding down the "C" on the A string I''ll kinda have to tap the octave'd "C" to get the harmonic yes?

I would pinch the string. Kinda what a guitardist does. Hitting the string and damping it with the thumb. I use my middlefinger nail to pinch. Thats the tecnique billy uses the most

and as sarbecue over said, lotsa distortion would help
