Which side is your strap adjuster on?

Sign in to disble this ad
I wasn't sure where to put this, so I just guessed.

Which side of your bass do you have the strap adjuster on? And why do you have it that way?

For me, the adjuster's on the bridge side, because at the height at which I wear my strap, the hard brass loop would be digging in to my shoulder.

Did I make that clear enough? Now let's see if I can figure out how to put a poll on here...

Ditto. My guitarist is the opposite because he's about a foot taller than me, hangs his guitar lower, and the plastic part of the strap would rub against the back of his guitar. To each his own i suppose.

My strap has an adjust on both... But I ended up folding and taping over the neck side adjust because the padding on the strap was on the back of my shoulder instead of on top...

i put mine on the neck side so if i need a quick adjust its right there. I dont really have a set strap height for my bass, sometimes i slam it down, sometimes i play it right on the stomach. having the adjust there seems to fit well if i have a change of heart

I put mine on the bridge side, because I run my cable through the doubled-up part of the strap. That way, if I step on my cable, it just pulls on the strap, instead of pulling out of the jack. like this:

(This is the guitarist of my band; he does it that way, also.)

I have a Martin two piece strap. You can loop the rear piece through different slots to adjust the length. It would suck if I liked to change my strap length back and forth, but since I don't it works great and I don't have to worry about the adjuster catching on something or getting smashed/broken in transit (if it was plastic).

I've always put it on the bridge side. It used to dig into my shoulder, back when I was younger (and shorter). I have no reason to put it on the other way now.

I voted carrots. Don't have an adjuster on my Levys.

I play with leather straps because nylon slides around too much on me......so no adjusters. There's no such thing as a "quick adjustemnt" for my strap height....

Bridge side cause that puts the meaty part of the strap on your shoulder, eh.

I also use only leather straps (Moodys) - but because I don't change strap height (and each bass has their own strap) I don't have to worry about adjustment. I DO have the adjustment end of the strap on the bridge side - for comfort sake.

bridge side. i use a dimarzio elastic strap (which is super comfortable), and i like by bass to hang a little higher than most people (sort of like tim commerford), but if i want to lower it, i just pull my bass down down.

Right. The straps don't seem designed for that.

bridge side, but i have a low end strap, so its 4" wide on one side, and the adjustment part is 3/4", so it works better one way than the other
