Sitting on amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I just realized this recently but, most of the time when I'm jamming with my friends I usually sit down on my amp and use it like a rocking chair...so far it's all worked out but I was wondering if I'm alone with this or other people do too. And if it had any adverse effects (I play standing when I'm with my school's jazz band though)

Oh, don't do that. You'll get hemorrhoids. No wait, that's snow... never mind.

Have a hot chick sit on your amp instead. She'll thank you for it actually you'll probably get smacked, so don't do that lol.

Not a good idea, if nothing more than heat. Flexing the amplifier metal case may short something out. Get off the furniture!

Your amp is for setting your beer on.

I used to do that all the time until I got an amp worth caring about. That amp has only had one person ever sit on it -- and I thought it was an honor (a great old drummer with whom I had formed my favorite rhythm section). Me? No. Him? Yep.

But now it seems nostalgia's not what it used to be. Go for it.

Well I just sit on my little 8" one (and I'm 17 and can't stand the taste of beer so I'll have to find something else to put on it)

When I sit on my 8" during jams I find that I can't hear myself very good.

NO! Don't put beer on the amp either! Been there, done that. Full beers vibrating off the amp - pouring their contents into power strips! I still have a sticky power strip thanks to beer.

I had to retube my Marshall several times when idiots would put full beers on it and they fell into the opening at the top.

Had a Sunn 1 18" that was great for sitting on when jamming. Also had a hot redhead in front of my Sunn 2 15 getting off on the vibrations.

The handle makes my butt hurt, so maybe I need to eat more donuts to gain sufficient butt padding.

I do not. 210 is too small for me to be confortable and if I'm using anything bigger I'm standing.

Nope that is where you spill the beer.

I used to sit on my small G-K combo...one time, the amp blew a fuse.
Removed the top cover...the capacitors outer skin was worn down because the rivet from the amp's handle had, after years, punched through to the metal of the cap.
Direct short...poof!

I don't sit on the amp but I do sit on the cabinet from time to time. I've found that it makes me think that I'm playing far too loudly, when in fact I'm not loud enough.
