I would like to know some fills or some theory on fills for like slapping or funk. I'd really appreciate it.

If you can double thump and coordinate your left and right hands for muting you can add some triplets in the mix. I'm sure you can find some cool stuff on youtube as well if you wade through the crappy videos. |

They help syncopate your slap riffs and make them sound more interesting, and create an illusion of speed. Check this thread for lots of useful tips The Slap Bass Welcome Center |

Beyond that, drum chops are certainly cool. One of the roots of my slap technique is to think of my thumb as the bass drum and my fingers as snare & toms. One of the real dangers - of the style in general - is that you risk stomping on the drummer or taking away from the music. |

As I said earlier, you can use your left hand to mute some of the notes and also to hit the fretboard to create extra percussion. |

Ahaha theres no scales for dead notes. | Get your hands on the Louis Johnson slapping video. There should be some clips on youtube as well. You will gain a million ideas on how to use dead notes from that. IMO the best slapping video out there next to the Sklarevsky video. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
